The Joy of Writing Perspectives

tmhosea

One of the greatest joys of storytelling is stepping into the minds of my characters—each with their own unique quirks, motives, and worldviews. Take Smythe and Gort, for example: a duo of bounty hunters whose dynamic makes every scene crackle with tension and intrigue.

Smythe is calculating, pragmatic, and always three steps ahead. Writing from his perspective feels like a high-stakes game of chess, with every risk meticulously measured and every move driven by cold, strategic precision.

Gort, on the other hand, is more reserved, cautious about unnecessary risks, and fiercely loyal. He trusts Smythe’s decisions to a fault, often acting as a stabilizing counterbalance to Smythe’s sharper edges. Writing from Gort’s perspective is a journey through quiet contemplation, subtle doubt, and an unwavering sense of partnership.

Exploring their perspectives isn’t just a creative challenge—it’s a reminder of how trust, tension, and differing approaches can shape relationships and drive the heart of a story.

Fellow writers, what do you love most about writing from different perspectives? Let’s celebrate the art of diving into our characters’ minds!

Happy reading & writing!
